A great way to keep active and stay healthy is by going swimming.

Children need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day and swimming is a great way of helping to contribute to this. Thats why Swim4Life has been launched to support Change4Life and provide tips and advice on how to get families up and about and having fun together this summer.

Swimming is not only a great option, especially as an after-school or weekend activity with the family or friends, but because they are having such a good time in the pool, kids can burn off energy without really noticing!

Since April almost 300 local councils are providing free swimming for people aged 60 and over and more than 200 are offering free swimming to those aged 16 and under too. So theres never been a better time for the whole family to enjoy one of the nations favourite activities! Check whether your council is running free swimming at http://www.culture.gov.uk.
